National Electrotechnical Training (NET) is now offering the Cable Jointing Assessment of Competence, which ETS Cable Components are delighted to be able to support. The first two candidates completed their assessments in early November at NET’s Harlow centre, where the required cable accessories and crimping tools were supplied by ETS.
Taking place over 5.25 hours, candidates have to demonstrate their competence in a number of areas covering safe isolation, risk assessment, termination into a switch enclosure, completion of a through joint, inspection and testing and finally a knowledge assessment. Those who successfully pass the assessment are eligible to apply for either a white stripe or gold ECS LV Jointer card, depending on their other qualifications.
Kevin Moloney, managing director of ETS, said: “As a former cable jointer myself, I’m really pleased that our company can do something to try and assist a new generation of Jointers to achieve their aims.
“It’s a great trade to be part of, which is why we worked closely with Joint Industry Board Cabling Committee when they requested to help establish the assessment.”
