Marconite Conductive Concrete
Marconite is a synthetic, granular material manufactured for use specifically in earthing (grounding) applications and, when added to Portland cement forms an extremely low-resistivity, conductive concrete which is used to increase the surface area of installed earthing conductors (earth rods, mats etc).
- Low-resistivity: 0.1 Ohm/metre. Extremely low when compared to Bentonite’s. 3 ohm.m
When mixed Marconite becomes a permanent, solid structure that does not dry out, shrink and is not prone to being washed away, providing a permanent earthing solution.
Marconite is suitable for most soil conditions and has no maintenance needs after installation, such as additional water or salts, compared to other electrically conductive mixtures.
The versatile earthing compound can even be used as part of the building structure itself, as Marconite achieves strengths higher than Grade 25 concrete. Marconite is pH-neutral, non-corrosive to copper conductors or steel Re-bar and does not attack cement structures.
Marconite is also available in the form of a “Pre-Mix”, containing pre-weighed amounts of Marconite granules and Portland cement. “Pre-Mix” requires the addition of 5 litres of water per 25kg bag, negating the need to carry extra concrete on-site and thus reducing possible confusion and incorrect mixing.
Due to the limited shelf-life of the “Pre-Mix” product, this is only available for sale within the UK and in multiples of 40 x 25kg bags (one pallet).
