R391 Compound

The Prysmian R391 compound is a non-hardening plastic weatherproof sealant which can be applied to protect electrical connections from moisture and corrosive vapours. The electrical sealing compound has the consistency of putty and good insulation properties, being rated at 1000v AC.

The plastic weatherproof compound may be moulded around cable terminals and connections or used to mechanically seal any form of enclosure, conduit box or cable gland. Being soft enough to mould around intricate contours or pressed into fine cavities, it has the ability to resist the dislodging effects of vibration and prevent moisture creepage.

R391 does not harden on exposure to air or sunlight, making it very easy to remove and therefore ideal for use in maintenance purposes where cables may have to be removed and replaced at regular intervals.

Suitable for use to prevent electrical leakage on short circuits and protection of electrical contacts against corrosion. It is a useful filler for junction or conduit boxes and the sealing of irregular opening screw threads and cable entries.
