3M 11kV Cold Shrink Three-Core Straight Joint Kits
3M Cold Shrink QS1000 11kV straight joints are suitable for the jointing of all common three-core (3core) polymeric insulated (XLPE, EPR, PE) SWA armoured cables up to 11kV.
The 3M joint base kit includes sufficient components to joint the three-cores and restore the cable armour wire. A choice of Cold Shrink outer protection tubes or conventional mould and resin combinations are offered to restore the outer sheath .
Supplementary kits are available for transitional and PILC to PILC jointing and build-up kits are also available when installing smaller conductors outside the standard range of each joint. Also consider the cable acceptance range of the mechanical connectors if using conductors outside the stated range for each joint.
Installation of the 3M QS1000 Cold Shrink joints is quick and simple with less opportunity for installer errors and less hazardous working conditions, due to the absence of heat or naked flames.
The 92-AV series of 11kV joint kits features primary insulation and screening components of a single-piece design.
- For a complete ColdShrink joint: Add an outer protection tube.
- For a complete resin joint: Add the relevant mould body and resin pack.
3M 11-52kV Cold Shrink Single-Core UNARMOURED Straight Joint Kits
3M Cold Shrink straight joints are suitable for all common polymeric insulated (EPR, PE and XLPE) unarmoured Medium Voltage cables at the folllowing U-Max levels: 12kV, 24kV, 36kV and 52kV.
Cold Shrink joint kits are quick and simple to install, without the need for a naked flame and featuring reduced critical steps, reducing the opportunity for installer error.
These 3M joints are supplied with a mechanical core connector and feature a single-piece design with built-in stress control and core re-screening.
Smaller conductor sizes can be accommodated by utilising 3M ColdShrink Build-Up Kits.
3M Network Rail Specified Cold Shrink Products
3M Cold ShrinkTM Permanent Sealing Tubes (PST) are ideal for insulation and protection of Low Voltage (LV) cables and are approved for use by Network Rail (PADS approved), for live rail terminations and in-line joints for DC track feeder applications, inline joints and third rail terminations.
The Cold Shrink tubing provides a permanent radial seal, expanding and contracting with the cable under load conditions.
Manufactured from EPDM rubber, the tubes are factory assembled, pre-stretched onto a removable plastic core. As the core is unwound, the insulating sleeve shrinks to form a tight seal around the terminal or splice providing a rugged environmental seal.
The 3M Coldshrink material resists moisture, acids, alkalis, ozone and UV light. The thick wall of the tubing also helps resist puncture and retain resiliency throughout years of ageing and exposure.
